Real Napa Valley Itineraries We Planned in Fall 2026 (Girls' Trips, First Visits & Multi-Day Getaways)
Napa Valley has more than 400 wineries. Picking the right three and fitting them into one relaxed, perfectly timed day is harder than it looks.
That's where we come in. At Safe Drive Napa, our drivers are family members who grew up here, and we're three generations deep in this valley. We plan your itinerary for free with any booked drive, then get you from stop to stop so no one in your group has to be the designated driver.
Here are a few real itineraries we created for guests this fall.
💕 The Napa Couple's Getaway
Group: 2 guests
Starting Point: Yountville
Ideal For: Anniversaries, romantic weekends, date days
The Day
9:30 AM | Pick-Up in Yountville
We picked the couple up at their hotel in Yountville and headed north to start the day at the top of the valley.
10:00 AM | Theorem Vineyards, Calistoga
A quiet, scenic estate tucked into the hills above Calistoga. It's the kind of intimate, unhurried tasting that sets the tone for a couple's day.
12:00 PM | Lunch at Oakville Grocery
A Napa institution since the 1800s. The couple grabbed sandwiches and picnic-style bites for an easy, relaxed lunch between tastings.
1:00 PM | Nickel & Nickel, Oakville
Just up the road from lunch, Nickel & Nickel is known for its single-vineyard wines, poured on a beautifully restored historic farmstead.
3:00 PM | Louis M. Martini, St. Helena
One of Napa's most historic wineries and a classic stop for Cabernet lovers, perfect for ending the tasting portion of the day.
5:00 PM | Drop-Off at Bottega, Yountville
We dropped the couple off for an Italian dinner at Bottega. Since their hotel was just steps away in Yountville, they could walk back after dinner and the driver didn't need to wait.
The Actual Itinerary
Here's the exact itinerary we sent this couple before their trip:
Why We Planned It This Way
We started at the far north end of the valley in Calistoga while the couple was fresh, then worked our way back toward Yountville. Lunch at Oakville Grocery sits just down the road from Nickel & Nickel, so there was almost no driving between lunch and the second tasting. We finished with dinner in Yountville, where the couple was staying, so they could linger over dinner and walk back to their hotel. That also meant their billed time ended at drop-off.
🌉 A Wine Country Day Trip from San Francisco
Group: 3 guests
Starting Point: Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco
Ideal For: SF visitors, first-time wine country guests, anyone who doesn't want to drive the bridge
The Day
10:00 AM | Pick-Up at the Fairmont, San Francisco
We picked the group up right at their hotel in the city, so no one had to rent a car, drive across the bridge, or worry about getting home after tasting.
11:30 AM | Scribe Winery, Sonoma
The first stop was the Knoll Picnic at Scribe, a laid-back, beautiful estate in Sonoma that sits right along the route from San Francisco.
1:30 PM | Lunch at V. Sattui Deli & Picnic, St. Helena
From Sonoma we crossed into Napa for lunch at V. Sattui, where the group picked up deli favorites and enjoyed them on the picnic grounds.
3:30 PM | Alpha Omega Winery, St. Helena
Just minutes from lunch, Alpha Omega's outdoor terrace tasting was a relaxed, scenic way to finish the tasting part of the day.
5:30 PM | Depart for San Francisco
The group relaxed on the ride back while we handled the drive.
7:00 PM | Drop-Off at the Fairmont
The Actual Itinerary
Here's the exact itinerary we sent this group before their trip:
Why We Planned It This Way
Sonoma sits right between San Francisco and Napa, so starting at Scribe meant the group was tasting soon after leaving the city instead of spending the whole morning in the car. From there we continued into Napa, where V. Sattui and Alpha Omega sit just minutes apart off Highway 29, so the afternoon had almost no driving. Both afternoon stops were outdoors, which made for a relaxed, easygoing day before the ride back to the city.
🍂 Two Napa Wine Days from a Sonoma Home Base
Group: 6 guests
Starting Point: Sonoma
Ideal For: Groups staying in Sonoma, family trips, friends' getaways
Day One
9:00 AM | Pick-Up in Sonoma
We picked the group up at their rental in Sonoma for the drive over into Napa Valley.
9:30 AM | Breakfast on the Way
A quick grab-and-go breakfast pickup at Model Bakery in Downtown Napa, so everyone had something in them before the first tasting.
10:30 AM | Schramsberg Vineyards, Calistoga
Napa's historic sparkling wine house, known for its tours through hand-dug caves. Bubbles are a great way to start a wine day.
12:30 PM | Picnic Lunch at V. Sattui
We picked up sandwiches from Giugni's Deli, a St. Helena local favorite, and the group ate them at the V. Sattui lunch tables with a bottle of V. Sattui wine.
2:15 PM | Lewis Cellars, Napa
A family-owned winery on Silverado Trail known for its bold Cabernets, and a relaxed way to close out the day.
4:30 PM | Return to Sonoma
Day Two
9:15 AM | Pick-Up in Sonoma
10:30 AM | Clementine's, Yountville
[1–2 sentences on the experience here.]
12:15 PM | Joseph Phelps Vineyards, St. Helena
One of Napa's most celebrated wineries, home of the iconic Insignia blend, with sweeping views over the valley.
2:15 PM | Grab-and-Go Lunch
A quick lunch stop at [Station St. Helena / Oakville Grocery] on the way to the final tasting.
3:00 PM | Caymus Vineyards, Rutherford
A Napa Cabernet legend and a fitting finish for a two-day trip.
5:00 PM | Return to Sonoma
The Actual Itinerary
Here's the exact itinerary we sent this group before their trip:
Why We Planned It This Way
Since the group was staying in Sonoma, each day started with the drive over into Napa. On day one, we went all the way north to Calistoga first, then worked our way back south, finishing on Silverado Trail close to the road home to Sonoma. Day two followed the same idea, starting in Yountville and moving up valley to St. Helena and Rutherford. With six guests, keeping lunch simple and grab-and-go meant more time at the wineries and less time waiting on a table.
🥂 The Two-Day Ultra Luxury Napa Experience

5:30 PM | Dinner at Auberge du Soleil, Rutherford
Dinner overlooking the valley from the hillside at Auberge du Soleil, timed for golden hour.
7:30 PM | Return to The Archer Hotel
Day Two
10:50 AM | Pick-Up at The Archer Hotel
11:30 AM | Quintessa, St. Helena
The Collector's Experience at Quintessa, a stunning estate along Silverado Trail.
1:30 PM | Lunch at Farmstead, St. Helena
A relaxed farm-to-table lunch in St. Helena between the day's two big experiences.
3:00 PM | Del Dotto, St. Helena
The St. Helena Estate Cave Experience with barrel tasting, one of the most memorable and immersive tastings in the valley.
6:00 PM | Dinner at Charter Oak, St. Helena
The weekend finished with dinner at Charter Oak, a Michelin Guide restaurant just minutes away.
8:00 PM | Return to The Archer Hotel
The Actual Itinerary
Here's the exact itinerary we sent this couple before their trip:
Why We Planned It This Way
This trip was about elevated, private experiences rather than packing in as many wineries as possible. Late-morning pickups gave the couple slow mornings at the hotel. Day one mixed styles, from a classic estate to a rooftop Pinot tasting to a food-paired Cabernet experience, and ended with a sunset dinner at Auberge du Soleil. Day two stayed almost entirely in St. Helena, so less time was spent in the car and more time went to each experience, finishing with a Michelin Guide dinner.
